The weekend before Ethan's due date I was scheduled to be out of town for the Off-Call conference for birth photographers. Ironically enough I was "on-call" while at Off-Call and had a conversation with some of my colleagues who are a part of Virginia Birth Photographers. We were talking about when we get most of our "its time for you to come" calls and I expressed that while some of my birth babies have come in the middle of the night, Ive always been there for hours beforehand and had never gotten THE call in the middle of the night. Ethan must have known, because sure enough I got the call they were heading to the hospital around 3am.
Thank goodness I didn't go back to sleep because Ethan was ready to celebrate his birthday. I arrived at Virginia Hospital Center around 4:30 and he was born just after 6am! I think he takes the new record for shortest length of time between when I arrived and when he was born. My favorite moments have to be when his big sister, Kennedy, got to meet him later in the morning. She kept telling me how he was "her baby" and kept asking "when can we take him home?" It was so endearing!
