When I wrote down my business goals for the year, more specifically-the number and type of sessions I wanted to shoot, I knew the number needed to increase significantly. Newborns have a special place in my heart, for whatever reason I LOVE getting to cuddle the little ones, so my goal was pretty lofty but I never thought to include shooting newborn twins as part of my goal. Noelle (who is Mark's cousin) contacted me about a session for her twins and I was over the moon, I literally danced around the kitchen singing about "twins!", crazy, right? Ashlynn and Everett were already 2 months old by that point, so we scheduled a session as soon as we could. Because they were a little older at the time of their session they were not naturally as sleepy as a week old baby would have been, but they still did AMAZING. It was a big accomplishment to get them sleeping at the same time and posed together, thankfully because they are family, I was able to bring Mark along to help keep them sleepy and happy! We sat and held them when we first got the their house for about an hour before we actually started shooting, they were just too sweet to put down! Here are just a few of my favorites, can't wait to watch these two grow up!

And just like that five months has flown by! The babies have grown up so much in the last few weeks! They love their jumpers, swings, rolling around on the floor together, holding hands, singing songs, reading books with daddy, making dinner with mommy and bath time. Henry has been giggling like crazy and started to squeal instead of coo. Lou is talking up a storm lately and smiles so big anytime we talk to her. She loves her sleep while he fights naps and is up early every day. She loves to observe people, especially Henry, while he’s much more into his toys. Lou has been working hard at sitting up on her own but Henry constantly kicks his arms and legs around and is too busy to sit still. They still aren’t huge fans of their car seats or getting their nails trimmed (mama doesn’t love doing it either!), otherwise they are happy babies and bring us so much joy!

When big sis meets baby sis. 💕
In honor of #nationalkjbrideday Im sharing some of my favorite wedding images, and a few sweet memories over the years with @katelynjames and @michaelalsop. It might seem like just a cheesy hashtag, but being a KJ bride is much more like being a part of a large extended family. I have met many of my closest friends and several of my own sweet clients through the community Michael and Katelyn have built with their business. And the woman behind it all is as kind and humble as they come. She has spent hours of her life giving and teaching other business owners and serving her brides. She is patient, selfless and generous with everyone she meets. Not only has she been a mentor to me for my own business, captured priceless memories for Mark and I, but she has been a true friend over the past several years. This weekend I witnessed her open her home to celebrate another sweet friend and her baby boy during what is arguably the most difficult thing anyone can experience on earth. While its hard to understand how something so heartbreaking can happen to one of the best people you know, Katelyn and Michael’s faith has never wavered. Today, I ask that you take a moment to say a prayer for our friends Katelyn & Michael, their family and their sweet baby boy, James, who is so very loved.
It’s funny how you spend more time preparing for family photos than actually taking them. From picking outfits, communicating with the photographer, praying your kids won’t scream, aren’t hungry, took a decent nap, aren’t cold or hot or cranky or teething. Maybe they’ll look at the camera, maybe they’ll smile, it’s crazy right? Our babies will never be this small again, they’ll have more hair, and probably less patience for this, they’ll be running away from us and we will have to bribe them to let us hold them for a picture. But actually having these few split seconds captured to keep forever is worth it. My whole world, thank you @brookeimages you guys are rockstars! 💕
The babies turned four months old on the 7th, which means they’re less than two months away from being six months old which basically means they’re almost one and we will blink and they’ll have their drivers licenses.😭 Some days I can’t wait for them to do ‘the next thing’ and some days I can’t believe we are already past so many milestones. It’s bittersweet!

Henry has been the more serious one the past few weeks, although he still likes to talk and has even let out a few giggles. He started drooling a ton and constantly wants his hands and fingers in his mouth. He reaches for his toys, and loves books but above all else he is obsessed with the TV. He is so so active and constantly wants to stand, jump, bounce, stretch, dance, etc. His eyes are still very blue and his hair..well jury’s still out on that one! Some days it looks red and others it could be brown. He almost always wakes up first in the morning, and from every single nap. He has the softest skin and his pointy chin is my favorite! Henry is spit up king right now and we joke he’s the reason we can’t have nice things. He is 14 pounds, 24.7 inches long and his head circumference is 17.3 inches (aka huge, for all of his brains obviously 😂) Lou has been SO smiley the last month, and is starting to use her voice for things other than protest. She’s drooly also, but would rather look at her hands than eat them, and she does so with pure amazement. She is very observant and loves laying on her play mat and hitting the toys above her to make them swing. She loves all the made up songs we sing her and and is always down to be cuddled. She loves her sleep but even if we wake her from a nap she is still happy and patient. The tiny bit of hair she has coming in is brown and her eyes are hazel for now. She has the longest eyelashes and chubbiest cheeks, perfect for kissing and pinching. She let’s out the biggest belches and cracks us up! She is 14 pounds 4 ounces, 25 inches long and her head circumference is 16.22 inches...more in comments😜
